Put Some Seed Money Aside

You may not want to hear this, but it is a good idea to have some seed money to invest into your new home based business. You’re starting a business remember? Everyone will be trying to tell you that you shouldn’t have to spend money to work online but remember, you aren’t working for an employer.  You are going into business for yourself.

I have seen it again and again.  People who want to start up a  home based business that are complaining about the smallest expenses such as $10.00 a year for a domain name.  The truth is, you can start a home based business online without spending money if needed but if all that you plan to do is use the free resources available it is going to take you much longer.

This step is extremely important.  For example, if you wanted to go the free route you could put up some Squidoo lenses, do some article marketing and over time see some income trickling in; which you could reinvest part of back into your home based business.

The problem is, by then many months may have gone by and things have progressed much more slowly than if you would have invested in your home based business in the first place.  Don’t get me wrong, if you need to find only free methods then by all means go that route.  However, if you really want to get your home based business off to a solid start than try to have a little seed money and make sure you spend it wisely.

So what would you invest in?  One of the basic investments besides domain names might be hosting for blogs.  You can build free blogs online but your goal is to own your own websites and blogs so that you have control over them.

One important tool that you may want to spend on is training.  A lot of people have mentioned that you can learn anything you want on the internet for free.  That may be true to a point but there are also some good courses and ebooks that lay things out step by step.  It may take a while to decide just who to trust online but if you spend some time learning about some of the more successful internet marketers then sooner or later you will know what direction you want to go in.

So before you invest in domain names, hosting, e-books or anything else look around online and try to decide just what type of home based business interests you.
