The Truth About Internet Marketing Part 3

The Cons of Starting a Work at Home Business

There are both pros and cons to working at home and today we are going to get the cons out of the way.  That way, you will have something nice to look forward to when we go over the pros in part 4.

We have all seen those ads and commercials showing a work at home business that shows “real people” making good money each week working part time from home.  The truth is, yes it is very possible to have a profitable work at home business and you can even take your business with you on vacation.  The down side is, while you can easily take your laptop with you do you really want to work on vacation?  Remember, having your own business means you don’t get paid vacations.  And chances are, you wont be able to afford to hire someone to after your business.

Anyone who has to put in 40 hour (or more) work weeks and answer to someone else autumatically thinks that having a work at home business would be a dream come true.  While there are some great perks, there are also some not so great realities.

Before you get too depressed, remember in part 4 you will be learning about the pros.

So here goes – reasons why a  work at home business isn’t always what it is cracked up to be.

There Is No “Guaranteed” Paycheck

When you take the leap to start your own work at home business, it’s up to you to create a steady income.  Unless you have a commission based job outside the home you probably get a steady paycheck each week. With a work at home business it could take a long time to see much of anything; even after putting in long hours day after day.

Internet marketing will have a lot of fluctuations.  You may have a goal to make $100 a day for starters yet you might be lucky to earn $100 a month.  That is the reality which is why I say, don’t quit your day job just yet!

Are your ready to put in long hours every day struggling  – or do you want to see a rise in your income that grows slowly over time  and provides you with financial security?

Many who start their work at home business in internet marketing measure their success one sale at a time.  When those first few sales are sporadic it can be very frustrating, and then you are racking your brain trying to figure out what you are doing wrong,  You want to know why others in internet marketing seem to have success in everything they touch while the occasional sale for you seems more like a fluke.

There Are No Paid Vacation Or Personal Days

Like I said earlier , when you take time off from your work at home business, your income can very well stall; at least in the early days.  And if you do take time off you will come home to a lot of work to catch up on.

Many established entrepreneurs can afford to hire virtual assistants to take care of tasks while they are away, however many others prefer to handle everything themselves because they have a hard time entrusting someone else to run things while they are gone.

You Are The Only One Responsible For Your Success

If things start to slow down even though you are doing everything the same there is nobody to blame.  You have to figure out what needs to be done and tweak your business accordingly.

If you wish to succeed you must implement a strategy and put a lot of effort into your work at home business.

You Have To Be Self Motivated

It does seem too good to be true.  No more butting heads with co-workers and no boss constantly on your back.  Is this a curse or a blessing?  Are you prepared to take on all the mundane tasks that it will require to run a successful work at home business?

In a work at  home business, there is no alarm clock and nobody to reprimand you if you show up for work late.  You are the one who has to push yourself to get up and get ready to start your day.  And if you are one who procrastinates then you need to make some changes.

Part 3 may have really discouraged you but don’t worry; in part 4 we get to go over all the pros of owning your own work at home business.
